In need of Workstation Popcorn
Brought to my attention by Shawn Blanc, the two key points for me were:
- Don’t stay locked in or in one place all day.
- Break up large tasks into smaller actionable ones and schedule my day
I’ve been working out of my home studio for a couple of years, and I’ve been trying to motivate myself to get out at least once a week.
Please note: “Working from home” is the least desirable option here. If you do “work from home”, select a space in your home as your “work area”. Use this space for work only.
Have to admit I’ve been getting a lot more done since I deleted my Windows partition (read: no more gaming). And while I’ve managed to keep my productivity as high as I can muster, I still do feel hopelessly swamped with work. I’m betting giving my work day/night a bit of structure and getting my ass out into the real world a bit more often would have a significant impact on my mental wellbeing at any rate.
